Decide which treatments need a deposit
Start with the appointments that hurt most when they are missed: long colour, full lash sets, extensions and first visits. Quick services often need no deposit at all.
- Long treatments that block a column for hours
- First appointments with new clients
- Treatments where you buy product in advance
- Peak times such as Saturdays and evenings
Choose a percentage or a fixed amount
A percentage scales with the price, which suits a varied menu. A fixed amount is easier to explain, which suits a short menu or a flat booking fee. In TSF Booking each service has its own rule: none, a percentage or a fixed amount.
Show the policy before the client pays
Clients should see how much notice they must give and what happens to the deposit before they pay. TSF Booking shows the policy on the booking page and applies it the same way every time, including when the client cancels from their confirmation email.
Have the money paid straight to you
Deposits go straight to your own Stripe account. We add no fee on top; Stripe charges its standard card fees.
Because the payment sits in your own account, refunds come from the appointment with a full record of who refunded what and why.
Set it up in TSF Booking
- Connect your Stripe account in Settings, then Payments.
- Open a service and choose its deposit: none, a percentage or a fixed amount.
- Check your cancellation notice period.
- Book a test appointment on your own booking page.
Questions

Can a client pay later instead?
Yes. Send a payment link from the appointment and the client pays when it suits them.
What does it cost to take deposits?
Deposits go straight to your own Stripe account. We add no fee on top; Stripe charges its standard card fees.
