How to require a patch test before lash, brow or colour appointments

By The Scaling Firm · Updated

Short answer

Add the patch test as its own service, then mark the treatments that need it. A client booking one of those treatments then needs a patch test on record a minimum number of hours before it. Record the result and the consent on the client’s profile.

Add the patch test as a service

Give it a short duration and a price, even if the price is zero. It then appears in the diary like any other appointment, and the booking counts as the test on record.

Mark the treatments that need it

Mark the patch test as required for the treatment. A client then needs a patch test at least 48 hours before it, by default, and a recognised client with one on record books straight away. You choose the gap.

Use it for lash extensions, tints, lifts, hair colour and any treatment where your insurer expects a test.

Keep the record

Store the result and the consent on the client’s profile. TSF Booking records who agreed, when and with which wording.

Set it up in TSF Booking

  1. Create a service called Patch test.
  2. Open each treatment that needs it and choose Patch test as the required service.
  3. Set the minimum gap, for example 48 hours.
  4. Book a test appointment to check the flow.

Questions

How long before the treatment should a patch test be?

Follow your product instructions and your insurer’s terms, then set that gap. The default is 48 hours.

Can the patch test be free?

Yes. Set its price to zero, or take a small charge and count it towards the treatment.

Does a returning client need a new test every time?

No. A recognised client with a patch test already on record, at least the set gap before the treatment, books straight away.
